Weekend Update

150x150Button

Friday morning Cindy and I drove to Murphy, NC. We didn’t get any snow in Saluda or Asheville but we saw plenty on our drive!

IMGP6218

She got her hair done (while I surfed the web) and then we went to lunch at Murphy’s Chophouse.

IMGP6222

After lunch we went to Fields of the Wood. My friend Colin and I had always talked about going when we were in college so when Cindy wanted me to come with her to Murphy I told her we had to go here!!

We had dinner at her parents’ house in Robbinsville and then went out to a few bars in Murphy (Coach’s and Chevelles 66). Saturday morning we drove around and she showed me the sights of Robbinsville and Joyce Kilmer Forest. That evening at home I cooked Thai Chicken Curry (delicious) and watched Silver Linings Playbook (loved it!).

Yesterday I had my monthly Pinterest Party. No one showed up so it was just me and Ruth but we had fun. I made crack dip and we glittered shoes, wine glasses, and a photo frame.

October Pinterest Party: Pumpkin Decorating

This party was awesome! For once my creations turned out really well! I made a “pumpkin” cheeseball (it was supposed to look like one) and pumpkin spice cookies (from a mix… I was lazy). Cindy brought vegan oatmeal cookies (YUM!) and chips and salsa. We also had mimosas and orange soda to go with the Halloween theme. And a candy platter! Everyone did their own thing with their pumpkins. Cindy carved hers; Cameron, Liam, and Peyton painted theirs; Mom and Anna made mini glitter pumpkins; and I made a BOO button pumpkin and a glitter chevron pumpkin (Leisa and Brittany just watched!).

September Pinterest Party

For my second monthly Pinterest party, I just let everyone do their own thing. I made “TRAVEL” letters out of foam and an old atlas. Shannon made a Halloween tree, Mason made wire trees, Cindy did an owl painting, and Breanna made earrings. I also cooked lemonade cupcakes and owl cakelets and made strawberry champagne slushies. (Cindy brought vegan pineapple cupcakes and carrot spice cookies.)

August Pinterest Party: Earrings

One of by “31 by 31” goals is to “have monthly Pinterest parties”. I had my first one today! There were four of us total, which isn’t a lot but we had fun and plenty of room to work on our projects. I made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, watermelon berry sparklers (I used strawberries instead of raspberries, oops!), and a cream cheese appetizer that didn’t turn out so well (should have baked for longer). My mom made salsa and Cindy made curry date guacamole. My mom had all of her beads and feathers out and I had a big bag of Scrabble letters. We each made three pairs of earrings! I made a red pair to match a dress I’m wearing on my upcoming cruise, a blue pair that’s kind of “aquatic” for the cruise, and a purple feather pair to match my purple highlights!
