Movie Review: The Lucky One

Who can resist Zac Efron in a Nicholas Sparks film?

From Rotten Tomatoes: U.S. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault (Efron) returns from his third tour of duty in Iraq, with the one thing he credits with keeping him alive–a photograph he found of a woman he doesn’t even know. Learning her name is Beth (Schilling) and where she lives, he shows up at her door, and ends up taking a job at her family-run local kennel. Despite her initial mistrust and the complications in her life, a romance develops between them, giving Logan hope that Beth could be much more than his good luck charm.

Rotten Tomatoes rating: 20%
Mountain Xpress rating: 2 stars

Verdict: 3 out of 5 stars. I actually thought it might not be that good so I was pleasantly surprised. It was frustrating at first when Beth let her ex-husband control her but luckily that didn’t last too long. I was afraid someone would die, and someone did, but it wasn’t who I thought so there was a happy ending after all.
