Movie Review: Rock of Ages

I usually like musicals and I love 80s music so this sounded like a good movie.

From Rotten Tomatoes: Rock of Ages tells the story of small town girl Sherrie and city boy Drew, who meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams. Their rock ‘n’ roll romance is told through the heart-pounding hits of Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Whitesnake and more.

Rotten Tomatoes rating: 41%
Ken Hanke rating: 2 stars

Verdict: 3 out of 5 stars. Amazingly, Tom Cruise was the only actor who was good in the movie. Usually I can’t stand him. Julianne Hough was super annoying and I can’t believe she’s dating Ryan Seacrest; she’s so young (14 years younger to be exact)! The gay subplot with Alec Baldwin and Russell Brand was interesting but totally unbelievable. I liked the singing though!
