Movie Review: Friends with Kids

Four out of the six main characters were in Bridesmaids and Adam Scott’s in it? I’m in.

From Rotten Tomatoes: Friends with Kids is a daring and poignant ensemble comedy about a close-knit circle of friends at that moment in life when children arrive and everything changes. The last two singles in the group observe the effect that kids have had on their friends’ relationships and wonder if there’s a better way. They decide to have a kid together – and date other people. There are big laughs and unexpected emotional truths as this unconventional ‘experiment’ leads everyone in the group to question the nature of friendship, family and, finally, true love.

Rotten Tomatoes rating: 68%
Ken Hanke rating: 4 stars

Verdict: 3 out of 5 stars. It’s been awhile since I watched it so now it’s hard to remember what I didn’t like about it… I just it was just not as funny or moving as I thought it would be. I didn’t care for Jennifer Westfeldt’s character at all. (Interesting to learn that she is Jon Hamm’s longtime girlfriend though!) And of course the ending was predictable.
